The columnist Rich Lowry said in the latest issue of National Review that Mr. Huckabee’s nomination would “represent an act of suicide by his party.” Like Howard Dean in 2004, Mr. Lowry wrote, Mr. Huckabee is “an under-vetted former governor who is manifestly unprepared to be president of the United States.”

Sounds suspiciously like another former governor who was manifestly unprepared to be president of the United States.

Who is Friar Galvao?

  • He was beatified by the late Pope John Paul in 1998 after the Vatican officially recognized one of his miracles — the 1990 healing of a 4-year-old girl considered to be incurable by doctors. She was cured after her family prayed to Friar Galvao and gave her the Friar Galvao Pills.
  • The second miracle required for sainthood was recognized last December. In 1999, a mother and child both survived after a high-risk birth that caused complications. Vatican medical experts said the case was “scientifically inexplicable”, attributing it to prayers to Friar Galvao and the pills.

Spike Island

I’m listening the the Stone Roses concert at Spike Island. The sound is poor, but the music is great.

There’s a little tidbit on the Stone Roses wikipedia page:

This Is The One is currently used by Manchester United F.C. as entrance music for their home league matches.

My halfhearted attempt to learn guitar was for the sole reason of being able to play the solo for This Is The One.

Michael Finley was 8-for-9 from 3-point range in the Spurs win. That ties the NBA “record” for most 3-pointers made in a game for a player on a team which eliminated an opponent from a playoff series.

The sad thing is that ESPN thinks that people want to know this stuff.
