XP

31 March 2004 - 12:21 pm

Having now used XP for the second day in a row, I appreciate OS X even more. Things just work, well, usually. Ironically, I spent half an hour trying to get my scanner working, at which I eventually succeeded. I never got it to work in OS X. What is it about scanners?

Slim

30 March 2004 - 03:21 pm

Things are going to be slim for a while while the latch on my iBook is repaired. I don’t like editing text files.

People who are not funny

27 March 2004 - 01:40 pm

I thought I would start a list of people who are not funny, despite what popular media would have you believe based on the frequency with which they appear on television. Feel free to suggest additions.

  • Denis Leary
  • Kathy Griffin
  • Bill Cosby
  • Robin Williams
  • Colin Quinn
  • Ray Romano
  • Anyone with a sitcom on ABC

26 March 2004 - 09:23 pm

I think that most people forget that Les Misérables was a book before it was a musical. It was a movie several times more than it was either a book or a musical.

The downside

26 March 2004 - 01:59 pm

Finally a digital camera with decent macro - Canon Powershot Pro1. The downside: $1000.

Has-been non-stars

25 March 2004 - 04:23 pm

What’s with the inordinant interest in has-been non-stars? Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown come to mind. When someone’s best days came in the 80’s, it is time for society to move on.

Guilty

24 March 2004 - 11:06 am

I find Toto guilty - guilty of including too many syllables in Africa. Offending words: melodies, conversation, Kilimanjaro, Serengeti.
