Eudora
25 April 2004 - 09:51 pmLast week I switched to Eudora from Apple’s mail.app. I like some of the features that Eudora has, which are lacking in mail, particularly statistics about incoming and outgoing mail (e.g., to know that I read only about 15% of the mail that I receive - the rest is junk) and more interactive junk filters.
This switch lasted all of about 2 hours. Major deficiencies with Eudora:
- No thread collapse.
- Poor filtering (of non junk).
- Poor handling of multiple accounts.
- No multiple outgoing mail servers. This is the big one. At work, I use Brown’s mail-relay, at home Cox’s mail server, over dial-up Earthlink, and in Florida (albeit infrequently) Bellsouth. Mail has all these saved. It starts with one and if that fails, I get a dialog asking me to choose another. So each morning, I select Brown’s mail server. It remembers that choice all day. When I go home, I choose a new one. The simplicity is remarkable.
Since I’m in Florida, I choose Bellsouth, and everything is set.
