Sludgeworth

29 January 2005 - 09:27 pm

You probably don’t know them from their greatest hits collection, Losers of the Year, which itself is somewhat curious. How could a band, whose ephemeral existence was barely noticed by anyone, have greatest hits? While exceptional, Losers of the Year, though including most of the songs on What’s This?, was lacking perhaps the finest Sludgeworth song, Funk Dungeon.

Now thanks to the good people (maybe should be singular) of Johann’s Face Records and $8 ppd, I have a cdr copy of What’s This?, including Funk Dungeon.

Back in the day (1992), I had a tape, but it is long lost. I did order a copy back then, when it was still available, but it never arrived. I had given up all hope. But after a chance email to JFR and an offer to burn me a copy, I am happy once again.

Splüge

29 January 2005 - 08:01 pm

What are the odds that there would be two bands named Splüge? When I was at Wake there was a Splüge (pronunciation unclear due to presence of a Heavy Metal Umlaut), who, as a group, wrote a rather famous and extremely funny review of some kind of KFC family chicken bucket meal in the Old Gold & Black.

Unfortunately, the full text of the review isn’t available in the OGB archives. The library archives has it here. Maybe I could ILL it. That would be a great use of library resources.

Will Keible was a funny guy. There are several references to him on this strange site.

Strange searches

Typically searches have some combination of david spade, curt schilling, and commercials. Today brought some really odd requests?

new sightings of jennifer and brad since split

This I can understand, but why are you looking here?

pictures of people with leprosy

Now that’s just vile.

burrito picture

Can you not sufficiently imagine what a burrito looks like?

atomic bomb pitchers

Were you looking for pictures or baseball players?

It’s actually kind of nauseating

Reading mediamatters.org. Bill O’Reilly is quite the liar.

Except for the fact

26 January 2005 - 08:41 pm

I read The Da Vinci Code during the last three days. It was enjoyable except for the fact that I couldn’t get the image of Tom Hanks out of my mind. I wonder which voice he will use for this one? Oh yeah, he’s only got one, the Boston hillbilly Ted Kennedy / Forrest Gump.

Problem solved

Someone has found a potential solution to my moleskine ink problems - Noodler’s Ink.

Pie

24 January 2005 - 10:28 am

What does it say about the state of pie in this country when even I don’t notice the passing of National Pie Day? I love pie.
